Forward

Some of us, as leaders, go through a series of purpose-expressions, a series of careers, as we grow, learn and become more and more of who we are meant  to be.  Others find one avenue immediately after high school or college and stay with that one expression of their vision throughout much of their life. Whichever path you follow is yours, not right or wrong, just yours..

The one core truth we learn, however, is that whatever path we choose, there will be a continuous series of opportunities for growth or stagnation. For living our truth or being in self-betrayal. Choosing leadership, consciously or otherwise, requires that we be ready to grow in order to deal with all the challenges, opportunities, and expansions that happen as our vision takes on a life of its own. That choosing can support compassion, understanding, and a greater leadership skill as those around us go through their process as well.

As leaders, we are challenged at times to decide if we are ready or even want to grow to that next level, to lead at that level, to become even more of who we are.

If you are human, you will at times want to stop, to breath, to reconsider your choices. That is never a failing, or a weakness, rather it is an amazing gift you give yourself. When you have grown significantly, or when it is time to grow significantly,  stopping to catch up with yourself, to integrate all that is happening, is a smart and solid way of strengthening your foundation, your connection to your Spirit,  to your purpose, and to you.

Use these articles as a means to do that.

Expanding leadership through volunteering and mentorship

Expanding Leadership and Purpose

By Leadership

For most of us who have been in leadership positions for decades, there is a cellular knowledge that we need to keep growing personally and professionally. Avoiding that reality results in apathetic or aggressive, will-based leadership. Although there are numerous ways to do so, may I suggest a specific avenue?  A perfect antidote, and one that expands our leadership as…

Happy 4th of July Weekend!

By work-life balance

Summer has already begun with the unofficial beginning happening on Memorial Day. Late June makes it official and now here we are already in July with the first big bang, literally and figuratively, taking place. Stopping, taking a break, being with family and/or friends for days at a time and, for many, sneaking in some alone time as well, makes…

6 Steps For An Easier Transition

By Transition

Someone called the other day, obviously in great distress. He asked me to tell him exactly what I did and how I worked. Because each client is in a very different place when they call, I cannot say that I always do this, this, & this. Is your company merging because you are buying another firm? Pragmatic steps of creating…

Living Large

On Saturday, I attended a memorial party for a dear friend of almost 50 years who passed two weeks ago. It was almost 50 years of laughter, support, secrets, wild outrageous adventures, and unlimited service.  Her five kids followed her request to celebrate her life rather than mourn her death. It was filled with laughter, music, an open bar, and…

An Ever-Evolving Journey

By Blog, Mindset

For decades I had that belief that “I can do it myself.” I valued my illusionary self-sufficiency while equating it with being strong, powerful, and independent. Those were words many, many folks had used to describe me. At one point, thankfully, I came to realize that self-sufficiency is an illusion. We all need others. We need them in so many…

Transitions As Part Of Daily Life

By Articles, Transition

Life is an adventure filled with ups and downs. How we deal with them is fully our choice. Some we can prepare for and some we can’t. This week yet another friend was operated on for cancer; a very old and dear friend who has had progressively debilitating dementia passed away and yet simultaneously we had a college graduation, a…

A Long Holiday Weekend

By Leadership, Mental Health

This weekend, summer unofficially arises from the cold earth and skiing and already the rush is on. Boats in the water this weekend, cookouts planned, tourists on the highway heading to Cape Cod and/or Rhode Island beaches and life is coming back to the “normal” of summer traffic on the highway. Reminds me of an old saying: “God’s in His…

Letting The Boxes Go

I had an interesting series of conversations over the last few days, in Dallas, NYC, with potential clients, and with friends here In CT as well. The location soon became irrelevant, since one key point frequently showed up. When we choose to make major shifts in any one area of our life, that shift affects every other area in our…

Living For Success Or To Live Your Life?

By Leadership

When others ask me what I do I can have a wide variety of answers depending upon the situation, timing, and/or their experiences, etc. When what you do is really simply a reflection of who you are, it is so intimate it can be shared in a few words “I change lives.”  In responses such as “I create transformational experiences…
