I have noticed that when life is preparing us for changes, it begins by making our predictable world unsettled, or it brings in a wide variety of stimulation that has us pulling up all kinds of skills we may not have been using lately, if ever. My predictable world of coaching clients in taking their leadership and their businesses to the next level, along with a few (very few) therapy clients I have chosen to see, has been stable and yet exciting in seeing all the massive growth taking place.

By chance, however, came the realization that far too many coaches and leaders are learning systems and techniques without any training in the process of transformation. Without the ability to take clients or employees to the next level of their own personal development, no matter how much we support their growth in life, health, or business, they will not have the ability to sustain it. Being me, the logical next step (YUP) is in opening an institute aptly titled, The Transformational Institute, to support these coaches’ and leaders’ own growth, professionally and personally, and through them, their clients and employees as well.

That means letting the world know it’s happening.

That means videos; that means showing up in a whole new way.

That means ‘OH NO!!!!”

Every single time we are called to bring our message further, we are called to grow into the person who can do that. I’ve keynoted to a thousand+. I’ve trained 1,000s. I am even past president of the National Speakers Association in CT. I’ve taught in graduate school and medical school. I founded my own 4-year institute which I ran for 19 years. Yet I have avoided on-line videos like crazy. Even webinars have frightened me, yet I have done them. My friends think it’s hysterical since it makes no sense. Emotions rarely do. Nonetheless, I am fully aware that if it frightens me, I need to take a deep breath and jump in. If we are connected on LinkedIn or Facebook, you will be seeing them. Oh God…

What is your life calling you to?

What risks are you being asked to take?

As you can see, don’t look for logic. What frightens you doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else.

Bugs in the garden you would love to have? Applying for entry to an organization? Driving across country? Facing yourself in the mirror, metaphorically or physically?

It doesn’t matter what it is, there is always an unexpected adventure waiting on the other side. Worst case scenario, you tried one more thing and you grew. Best case scenario, you are wiser, braver, and more outrageous than ever.

My signature 10-month program for women in transition seems like such a breeze, and I know it causes massive transformations again and again. (Yes, I am rationalizing why I have grown enough already) and I am even ready for the next group of 6-12 women yet my fear, a larger reach, and far more ability to support change is also calling.

Again, what is calling you?

In total vulnerability, I am aware that pulling up my big girl pants, and doing it is the only option. As my clients say: “You hold my heart while you kick my ass.” Doctor heal thyself and all that…. Know that whatever risks you face this week, no matter what fear you confront, that I am holding your heart while kicking both your ass and mine. Go for it. I promise I will too.

P.S. I am also aware that once we face our greatest fear of the moment, the standard response is always “THAT’s what I was afraid of??????”  Good luck and God bless in your journey this week. Write and let me know what fear you faced; I would love to know. Email me at: [email protected]
