Have you ever had one of those weeks where you are busy every minute of the day and it still feels as if you are barely treading water? Welcome to humanity!

Between clients, speaking engagements, meetings, scheduling, networking, working “in” the business as well as “on” the business, it can feel like an absolute necessity that you have to make a conscious decision at some point to simply stop…. It is.

The side-effect of “success” is not meant to be busyness but a sense of accomplishment and of purpose. When busyness is the experience you have, it is solely because you have lost sight, hopefully momentarily, of the purpose in why you do what you do.

When I reach that point, and I most certainly do, I realize joy, purpose, and service is gone. Stress, completion, and unloading has become the new objective. What a horrific substitution…

Whatever it takes for you, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, meditation, a massage, or anything else, it is important to know when you have reached your limit, even better to know when you are approaching your limit, so that you can stop, evaluate, and do what is needed for a replenishment and substitution. It is entirely so that you can get back to your authentic self, and authentic purpose. It’s simple – but – not always easy.

With practice, and experience in being so fully body aware that you can sense when you are tightening up; you can sense when urgency has become your style; and you can sense when joy is the last thing on your mind. That level of energetic awareness, of emotional intelligence, and of spiritual connection, allows you to be present to yourself especially when your body feels so out of place.

Making joy, purpose, and service your norm is the same as working any other muscle. The more you practice with it, the more you use it, the stronger it becomes as does the call to come back to it. Do yourself a favor. Become aware of what it feels like in your body to be at peace, and to be in joy, purpose and service. The more you get to know that place the more aware you are of when you are leaving it. It is sooo worth the price…

Wishing you a week of joy, purpose, and service to yourself, those you love, and potential clients you don’t even know.
