There comes a moment in our career/life when success is not the major goal. That’s either because we have reached or surpassed what we had dreamed of, or because we realize our values have changed. I, personally, have noticed a shift into Legacy Leadership. My past few clients have done the same. Impact versus an image of personal success became the goal.
It’s almost as if there is this universal turning point when we realize we no longer want to be chasing clients or scrambling for visibility for ourselves. Something deeper and more profound, or expansive, is rising. We see a far bigger picture and realize what we have learned along the way to today. We realize that all of our life experiences, personal and profession, inward and outward, have brought us to a place that says “I need something far greater. I need to bring what I have learned to a different population, a different audience that is looking for, or needing, this one message.”
For each one of us, that message is a unique compilation of all those previous experiences. Consequently, it is uniquely ours. It may be similar to another’s, the 100th monkey syndrome etc., yet our approach, our energy, and our experiences are uniquely ours. We bring our unique combination of energy and perspective to the message. There are those who can best assimilate the message through our presentation and energy versus another.
We all start with the basics:
- Scrambling for clients
- Feeling like success depends on hustle
- Making decisions from fear, urgency, or needing to “prove” and survive.
Yes, we may all start there—it’s part of the journey – but we’re not meant to stay there.
The next step is in recognizing that you have a message, not just a service to offer.
- You begin feeling pulled to something bigger than your brand
- You come to understand your work as a catalyst for cultural, spiritual, or systemic change
The choice is based on your history. The shift goes from transactional to transformational.
This stage makes demands on you and your transformation, such as the:
- Courage to be seen as a visionary
- Commitment to bring others along—clients, peers, partners
- Willingness to let go of the familiar and scale your impact
- Focus on systems, movements, and generational contributions.
Where in your life or business are you still scrambling and where are you being called to stand in vision? What world do you want to help create—and who do you want to bring with you?
This next stage requires trust, clarity, and a new way of leading, a new way of being. I invite you to lean in, dream bigger, and prepare to walk the next chapter of your purpose—with impact, not just income. Both make a great partnership… If you want to do this in partnership as well, I’m here. Just call or write a note. I’ll be there to support you through this next exciting and powerful stage…
