As I have said many times, we are all called to leadership. Leadership of our lives, our families, our careers, our businesses, our towns, and so on. Whatever level it is for you, it’s a level that needs you to walk into each day with consciousness, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence especially if you want it to call you to your highest and best self.

A client today spoke of the desire to disappear, to be invisible, and all while having a nationally recognized business named after herself. How many of us walk into each day with a mixed or contradictory agenda? How often have we then wondered why things aren’t moving ahead smoothly? Another wants to be the head of a major research department in a globally known university yet doesn’t want to be around people.

Living consciously, we get to see the many contradictions we may be telling ourselves while we are trying to create a life and/or lifestyle that best reflects who we are and want to be. Being pulled in two directions is human. To stay in that energetic reality however is self-betrayal and ultimately self-destruction.  How we use our energy, to support us walking forward in clarity and focus, or to continuously do a push-pull not only impacts the outcome of our decisions, it also impacts our health, emotionally, spiritually and physically.

The unrest, or dis-ease, that exists within us when we are in that energetic place, begins to drain our adrenals, then our immune system, and then because we are vulnerable, it ultimately leaves us open to a multiple of diseases as well as well as an exacerbation of any physical vulnerabilities we may have been born with. Not for a moment do I say this to panic you, only to support you in understanding that as beings that are fully interconnected on a variety of levels, we are leading our way into health or disease when we don’t choose to take a leadership role and make a decision, jump in, and move forward to wherever we are called. Even a so-called “mistake” is movement and an opportunity for growth and greater understanding. It’s a good thing.

Choosing an energetic state such as peace, passion, joy, adventure, inquisitiveness, or anything else that feeds or delights you, is making a conscious choice to live in a certain way.

To present to others what becomes your signature energy is a way of defining you, your life approach, your business and so on…

A friend this week said every time I speak to this one, I leave depressed, this other one is always angry, in angst, or a victim. This one is always making me laugh and this one always brings me joy and permission to be me. They have each, perhaps unconsciously, chosen a way of approaching life, business, and themselves and it impacts every aspect of their lives.

Now I realize, no matter who we are, we have moments, hours, or even a day of overwhelm, sadness, anger etc. but where we choose to live is what defines us. Our success in anything is determined by our approach to it, so is our health.

As the leader of your journey, what is your choice? What energy do you choose to live in? What energy are you bringing to your family, your job, your life?  As a leader, how are you presenting to those who look up to you? To those who depend upon you?

For me, the biggest question is how are you choosing to go through your life? In struggle? As an adventure? With curiosity? With abandon? Or tightly contained? It’s all a matter of choice. Conscious or unconscious choice. Be mindful of the choices you make and use your emotional intelligence to recognize the impact that choice has on you. It means the world to you and all those you love and touch as you walk or run through life.

I’m here if you need help understanding the choice you made and how it is impacting you, your dreams, and your world.
