Have you noticed that if you followed your heart when you began working, or perhaps chose to listen to your heart later, that at some point you still may have found yourself surviving rather than living? You were doing what you loved and chose yet somehow it didn’t seem to fit any more?  What a gift…

That happens because you have outgrown that expression of your heart’s calling, or your soul purpose. With each of us, as we expand and grow in knowledge, wisdom, and power, we are called to uplevel, expand, or redirect what we are doing.

The initial expression of what you were called to fit who you were then. As you expanded so did your ability to live out your soul’s purpose. I see it as the more you learn to love yourself, your work, and others, the more you are being called to do. Our energetic footprint, if you will, naturally becomes larger and larger. It craves greater expression. Our reach needs, not only wants, to grow deeper, or wider, or both.  Sadly, some judge this calling as ego and override their innate calling to do or create more. Ego is about the need to be “special” as if that was possible. As I taught my children, we are all exquisitely unique, yet no one is more special than another. We are all equally in this together.

Certainly, there comes a time when we want to train others to take our vision to the next generation, to the next reiteration of itself. While we are still working however, our call is to keep expanding or deepening that footprint as only someone with greater wisdom, experience, and ability to love can do.

Throughout our careers we are faced with innumerable opportunities to grow, change, or redirect. We can either choose to ignore them, choose to pick the safe bet, or we can choose to risk and follow what is a deeper calling within our field but in an expanded or alternative approach.

Examine each opportunity since change for the sake of change is usually a waste. Change that frees your joy, passion, and purpose, (and even a bit of fear) is the change that your inner knowing recognizes as being right for you. Take that risk. Reach out. Whether it is to volunteer at an organization you know you can meaningfully contribute to or a position that you know will call you to become more of who you truly want to be, go for it.

Our energy needs to be stimulated. It needs to be activated for our health, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. We see so many memes about the bumbling couch-potato, yet the opposite, the purpose-filled soul who keeps growing and contributing time, energy, and gifts, should be the real meme. In Google a meme is defined as: an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture.

What if in calling others to live fully, continuously, while expanding their skills and wisdom to bring joy to themselves and others was the meme we are being called to create in a world that so needs that message?????   Go create a meme that feeds you in a way only you can do. You and the world so deserve it…
