Today I heard from a cancer patient who texted to say, ”I am at Smilow (Cancer Hospital) – so -my oncologist said my MRI came back better than they could ever have expected. Tumor is gone & all hazy areas are gone. HIs words “truly amazing.”

I texted a special person in my life to share the news and he texted back “The power of energy in the body that you seem to be able to harness….”  His words hit me as much as hers. “That you seem able to harness.”

That sounds like a unique, intimate, and truly personal gift. My belief, however, is that we all have this gift. We are all born healers. The real difference is that some of us have chosen to listen to it, some of us are called to work with it, while others choose to remain unconscious of all that is possible in our ability to heal the world around us. My desire is to continue to heal while also calling everyone I touch to recognize that the gift of healing is theirs if they want it.

Not everyone is called to hands-on-healing. That’s only one means of healing, immensely powerful, but still only one means to healing. Healings happen daily, perhaps without our realizing it. More than once when I have simply smiled at an elderly person in the supermarket or helped reach for something, I am told “Yours is the only smile I have seen in days.” Or “You are the only person who has offered to help in months. It changed my week. Thank you.” Healing a lonely or broken heart is a gift we can give easily.

A compliment, or opening a door, all these things can remind someone the world is still a blessed place to be. For one moment, you allowed someone to relax, open their heart, and to trust remembering we are all in this together and they are not alone.

A simple act of understanding or compassion can provide the ability to truly see someone. That makes you extraordinary. It also allows you to heal in the most powerful and loving ways. So many of us go through life feeling as if no one has ever seen us. Imagine being that one person who does see them, even if only for a minute.

Frequently it can call for a level of understanding on your part, an awareness of what makes people who they are so you can see beyond their fear or reluctance. I am offering a free one-hour webinar on January 4th, How Your Personality Affects Your Health to support you in understanding how personalities impact health, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. To support your ability to understand yourself as well as others, join me and find out how and why folks do what they do as well as how it impacts their health. It will dramatically increase your ability to heal, yourself and others. I’d love to see you there.
