A great coach doesn’t just guide you—they fast-track your evolution.

In a conversation this week about coaching, who and how it serves, there were some interesting points debated. One train of thought is that coaches never offer advice or direction, they simply ask probing questions allowing the client to figure things out for themselves. Another perspective is that coaches use that as one tactic yet with so many other tools in their tool kit.

As in any profession, there are multiple approaches, most with some or great credibility. In addition, there are those who bring a world of wisdom and experience to the table and those who offer hope and support. What the client needs is the greatest indicator of where to turn.

With decades of experience, I have seen so many differences just as there are with clients. Some pay for advice yet negate everything you say. Some are too frightened to do what they asked you to help them achieve and yet some are sponges ready to work and to fly, even in the face of fear. They know the price is transformation and shedding that old skin is not easy but so worth it.

The right coach/consultant/mentor doesn’t just bring wisdom. They bring the compression of time. What took them 25, 30, even 40 years to master—they can transmit to you in six months or a year. They help you avoid costly detours, second-guessing, and the emotional toll of learning everything the hard way. They offer objective perspective, see your blind spots, and reveal the strengths and vulnerabilities you’ve never quite recognized in yourself.

Coaching isn’t an optional luxury. It’s a strategic move. A high-level coach isn’t just an investment in knowledge, but in clarity, confidence, and velocity. They’re a gift to your future—a mirror, a mentor, and when needed, a well-placed nudge (or a not-so-gentle kick). They are an accountability partner and so much more. They have your back while teaching you to fly with confidence in your choices, your calling, and your purpose.

Higher end coaches bring that much more to the table, but they also expect that much more movement, adaptability, and malleability. The limits are what you make them. Their gift is in pushing the line to show you so much more than you imagined was possible. Achieving it is up to you.

Your values and your view of your life in the long-run allows them to support you in creating a possible and expansive view in the short-run. Every step you take is leading you to the bigger picture, the bigger version of you. That expanded energetic footprint allows you to present the best version of yourself. It’s an exciting and scary ride yet one you are not walking alone. Your legacy and your journey become real and vibrantly alive realities as you bring the best version of you to the table and to yourself.

A call to Reflect:

  • What is it costing you to try and figure it all out alone?
  • What would it be worth to collapse years of learning into months of growth?

As the title states: A true coach doesn’t just add value. They give you back your most precious currency: time and lots of it. Call if you are ready!
