For the past few years, I have been blessed with the treasure of 2 amazing girlfriends who are gifts beyond words as we share our wisdom and our experiences with each other; supporting one another in taking our businesses, and ourselves, to the next level. We met at a business conference in Florida, yet we all lived up north. I’d say Spirit, the universe, whatever, always provides what we need when we least expect it…

Pre-pandemic we would meet at one friend’s apartment in NYC each month and spend the day supporting, in turn, each other’s successes and misses. It was a day I looked forward to. A two- hour ride on the train was a delight that took me to a much loved “event” each month.

Today as we were meeting, after so long, there was the comfort of knowing each other’s strengths and limitations, joys, stressors, and sorrows. This level of relationship, and yes it can exist even in business when you are willing to be vulnerable. Pushing that vulnerability to deeper levels regularly, made so much possible for each of us. We could confront when we saw one or another hiding and applaud when a new risk was taken. I realized during our gathering the depth of a blessing that this is and, sadly, how uncommon it is for so many.

My wish for you is that you risk.

Risk being seen; risk being vulnerable, risk being supported when you need it most, being kicked in the butt when you are lying to yourself, and risk having the joy that comes when dear friends who have shared so much, know that in yet another month we can share these hours again with a wide-open-door policy for a conversation any time it is needed between now and then.

One lesson I have learned for sure, only in risking being seen, in all of our humanity as well as our divinity, are we able to raise higher than we ever imagined. Here we were, three women each from a different faith, different countries, and different specialties, yet each with a desire to love, support, and cheer one another on.

If you have that in your life, congratulations – if you don’t – please gift yourself and others with your presence, with being seen and thus giving them permission to be seen as well. Before you know it, you will find that is how open you want to be in so many other relationships as well.

Your life will be filled with laughter, connection at levels that continue to amaze and delight you, and the ability to know that whether in the best or the toughest of times, you are never alone.

Enjoy,

Dorothy
