A Time for Response not Reaction

By April 7, 2013Uncategorized

Spring has arrived, Easter and Passover have come and gone, the sun is shining, the water looks beautiful and the buds and flowers are beginning to bloom. We are truly blessed yet as I read Facebook postings I see so many who are caught up in looking at the negative, who are in fear and for some even in hatred.

As the “expert guest” on WXLM, 980AM every Friday morning we discuss the latest crisis or difficulty that is taking place and how we as a people can deal with it all so I am certainly up to date on much of the sadness and pain that exists. What I see each time however is that there is always a way to come back to peace, to deal with all the difficulties and disagreements that exist without losing ourselves in the process. Whether it is a political issue, a local issue, or a global fear, the most important focus of our lives must on the spiritual journey we are walking.

When we focus solely on the externals we live our life in reaction rather than response. We allow the outside world to govern our inner peace and our connection to our soul’s longings. Being aware of the world around us, working to make it a better place, according to our own beliefs, and remembering that we are all walking this journey together, is imperative if we are to live our life’s purpose but we can’t remember that purpose if we never stop to come within because we are so busy fighting the perceived enemy.

Stopping to smell the roses is a wonderful beginning in remembering that the stopping allows us to bring all of who we are to whatever situation we are faced with. Taking the time for gratitude, for joy, and for peace allows us to see the big picture and to confront whatever it is that calls to us from a place of response, intent, and faith. The way we all as spiritual beings are called to do. I wish you peace, and the chance to express your thoughts as you work to make the world a better place in such a way that you are left feeling like you contributed rather than that you attacked. We need the contributions of each of us in working towards not against. Facebook, as any other means of communication, is meant to bring us closer not to drive us apart, our world needs it.
